ATS understands that significant systems cannot acheive their full potential if staff are not trained to use them properly.
This is why training is treated as one of the most important parts of the
ATS Computer System Development Methodology (ATSCSDM)
. ATS has
training in mind from the beginning. In many cases, ATS prepares includes a draft user's guide as part of the System
Requirements
Specification. This approach puts the "usefullness" of the system up front in the system develpment process and
produces more accurate system requirements which help prevent mis-understandings and re-factoring of requirments and
code later on.
Below are slides from a training session ATS delivered in a presentation to the staff of a large trucking company. This training session helped ease them in the transition from a "Typical Information System" to a Geographic Information System and prepared them to better discuss the requirements for their new GIS.
